APRIL 6, 2019 DMRVFD ANNUAL TRASH PICK-UP
On Saturday April 6th, 2019, DMRVFD support team and firemen got together to participate in the “Don’t Mess with Texas” annual trash pick-up on our section of Highway 166, mile marker 179-181. Some of us met up at the fire station, the rest met up at the mailboxes. Thank you to everyone who came out to help. We had 11 Volunteers present. Support group members that volunteered were; Cathy Gossett, Vickie Conner, Maria Lejeune, Willis Lejeune, Marvin Voiers, and Mariel Davis. Representing the Fireman, Kenneth Gossett, Paul Conner, Charles Court, Donna Monroe, and Edna Queen. As always, we broke into two groups, one going east and one going west. We had enough people that we had 2 people cleaning around the mailboxes. Willis found a small pry-bar in good shape. Some **##@@ dumped a propane grill on the side of the road. We moved it up to where our trash bags are normally left. Trash was very light, only one full bag after combining 11 bags together! Very few cigarette butts! I did post a small rant on the community Facebook page about the amount of cigarette butts that were pickup last time, so maybe it worked?
Our next pick up date will be June. Edna Queen - Fireman

AUG. 20, 2018 HIGHWAY TRASH PICK UP
The DMRVFD support team picked up trash on our section of Highway 166, mile marker 179-181. Thanks to everyone who came out to help. We had 10 Volunteers this time. Members that volunteered were Cathy Gossett, Sam House, Maria LeJeune, Marvin Voiers, Janette Winters, Shannon Barron, Mariel Davis, Mercedes Gonzalez, Ray Queen and Edna Queen. Our section of Hwy 166 was pretty clean; when we combined the 10 bags we used, we had 2 bags of trash and that was because some idiot dumped a printer on the side of the road! There was a lot of traffic this morning and I want to thank everyone for slowing down for us.
FEBRUARY 27, 2019 TRASH PICK UP
On Wednesday February 27, 2019, the DMRVFD support team and some of our newest firemen got together to pick up trash onour section of Highway 166, mile marker 179-181. Some of us met up at the fire station, the rest met up with at the mailboxes. Thank you to everyone who came out to help. We had 11 volunteers present. Support group members that volunteered were: Cathy Gossett, Sam House, Mercedes Gonzalez, Marvin Voiers and Mariel Davis. Representing the Firemen: Fire Chief Mike Fryer, Assistant Chief Kenneth Gossett, Firemen Paul Conner, Charles Court, Donna Court and Edna Queen. It was a good day to pick up trash. Warm enough not to have to wear a jacket or coat, not too windy and overcast. There was some traffic but not too bad. Not that much trash either, only two full bags. The guys took the west end and the women took the east end. We had enough people that we had 3 people cleaning around the mailboxes; Mike, Charles and Mariel cleaned up around the mail boxes. Nothing too unusual found this time. More airline size bottles of booze, a dear leg… I will say that I am concerned about the amount of cigarette buts I pickup today. It is so dangerous to toss a cigarette but out the window in these conditions. The grass is tall and so dry that it would not take much to start a fire that would be disastrous. Our next pick up date should be in April forthe “Don’t Mess With Texas” state wide trash pick-up date. After that it will be June before the annual meeting.
Thank you once again for being such a great team to work with. Edna Queen - Highway trash coordinator
NOV. 28, 2018 HIGHWAY TRASH PICK UP
On Wednesday, November 28, 2018, the DMR VFD had their last trash pick up for the year. There were eight volunteers who show up on this horribly windy day. Thankfully there was not very much trash we only had one and a half bags full. The guys took the north side were Marvin, Stewart and Ken. The girls took the south side, Maria, Cindy, Kathy, and myself. Mariel cleaned up around the mailboxes. The guys found the most unusual item which was a sequence of small airplane size bottles of booze. I think they said there was around seven or eight of them. Edna Queen
